Jesus cried and said,
He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
I am come a light into the world that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
And if any man hear my words and believeth not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. He says as much in this passage from the final verses of chapter 12 in John’s Gospel.
He comes as a spiritual light – the purest and most powerful form of light. And that light communicates via WORDS.
WORDS are not just specific types of noise; they are specific types of noise intended to convey particular meanings.
And God uses words, primarily.
The Psalmist in Psalm 119, and verse 130 said this.
The entrance of they words giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.
We live in a highly technological world; sophisticated; complicated.
But it is completely lost spiritually and morally.
The age old problems of right and wrong, and how to live together persist. And the answer remains the same.
The entrance of God’s words brings light and understanding to us.
The writer of Psalm 119 also says this, in verse 105:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my my path.
God’s teaching in the Bible shows us, not the physical, circumstantial way to go, but the way to behave and conduct ourselves as we go through life. God’s word challenges our instincts and our preconceptions, but his word – or teaching – does so to put us on the right track to be healthy and whole, spiritually and emotionally.
The teaching Jesus brought was paramount and primary. Even his miracles were done to make a point he wanted to instruct.
Today, too many people are taken with the spectacular expression of the spiritual. Too often that is of darkness. And darkness mediates its evil spiritual influence through words and ideas too. Often by half truths and distortions.
But Jesus is clear. His teaching is the standard by which our lives will be judged one day. And the question will be. Did we align our lives and thoughts with God’s words ? Or did we align ourselves with our own desires and thinking, even the desires and thinking of a world system at odds with God, and which defies God.
Jesus is clear.
Hear and obey his teaching.
He is God.
