Getting it all in perspective

There are so many ways of looking at life. There are so many interpretations, explanations, ideas of one sort or another be they political or religious or whatever. To be honest it is all rather confusing. Where do you start ? Which is correct ? Indeed is there a true answer or must we just take one off the supermarket shelf of beliefs ?

The Christian perspective starts with Jesus Christ, of course. And that sets the standpoint from which all else must logically follow. This standpoint explains the fundamental problem we have as human beings – sin, or utter selfishness to the exclusion of God and of the  true interests of others.

It also supplies the answer to that problem – Jesus Christ, his life and teaching, his example of death on a cross of pain and humiliation, and his resurrection by the power of God the Creator for his act of obedience to death on the cross. And his appointment to the right hand of God the Father, coming again in power one day to judge all life.

Christianity supplies both the diagnosis and the solution. It answers the question “Why ?” and it provides the power of God to live and die in hope.

Yes, it does provide the answer to why, despite the mealy mouthed evasions of the religious, and the philosophical who pretend to be ministers of God and live off the faith. For those who care to listen, and obey, both diagnosis and answer are there.

The Bible provides all the clues and insights we need to live our lives God’s way, the right way, the successful way [success in terms of true success, not worldly gain and pomp].

NOTE THIS VERSE WELL.

The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he will show them his covenant

May I tell you that it is true. Believe me.

And to help us understand how this works, let me cite the words of a hymn by Isaac Watts [1674-1748]

When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride…

The personal icon photograph shows God's creation, the world. It reminds us that God is the Creator of all - the almighty, the all knowing and all present - the one who is most important of all. The one to whom we owe all, and the one to whom we will answer for all. The site's header image of the Bible [King James Authorised Version], a map, a light and a compass represent to us that God's word in the Bible is our spiritual map, illumination and guide through this life. Those who obey his teaching will know his presence and power - Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 23
