Foundation for life

What is the foundation of your life ? On what are you relying for your welfare and wisdom to cope with this life and beyond ? Yes there is a beyond – there is no evidence for simply ceasing to exist, as if the end of physical existence is the end of all existence.

There is abundant evidence, however, for the continuance of life beyond this material world’s lifespan of 70 to 90 years. The evidence exists in scientific enquiry into near death experience, in art forms going back to antiquity and in various religious beliefs.

We don’t die spiritually – we go on. And it is this spiritual reality which underlies and determines all existence. Focus on the purely material will always give us a false picture, a false understanding and therefore a false response to the issues of this physical life here and now.

Jesus Christ addressed this fundamental when he said:

the words that I speak unto you are spirit and are life [note 1]

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” [note 2]

In other words, Hear Jesus teaching and obey it !

Many disciples down the ages have known the security and reality of the spiritual foundation which is Christ and his teaching.

The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord, she is his new creation by water and the word; from heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride, with his own blood he bought her and for her death he died

Elect from every nation yet one o’er all the earth, her charter of salvation One Lord, one faith one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses with every grace endued. ….

Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three-In-One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won; O happy ones and holy, Lord give us grace that we, like them the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with Thee.

The personal icon photograph shows God's creation, the world. It reminds us that God is the Creator of all - the almighty, the all knowing and all present - the one who is most important of all. The one to whom we owe all, and the one to whom we will answer for all. The site's header image of the Bible [King James Authorised Version], a map, a light and a compass represent to us that God's word in the Bible is our spiritual map, illumination and guide through this life. Those who obey his teaching will know his presence and power - Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 23
