in the beginning, What ?

How did it all start ? Does it matter ? Let’s suggest that in the beginning, man emerged and evolved out of nothing ? What sort of answer does that provide ? It says that we are, therefore, a random assembly of molecules with no reason to exist, and no sense beyond our physical senses.

That is therefore how we will live. With no purpose other than our physical, material gratification. No higher purpose, no higher calling. No other reason. And when we die, we simply cease – our existence no longer matters, and our decease is of no consequence.

Ergo our existence in this present material world is all that can ever matter; our temporary material existence, lived entirely for our gratification and self interest.

That is how many human beings live today. In a material world with a material purpose. Gain all you can, while you can.

I am my only reason to exist.

But the book of the Christian faith, the Bible, states a different beginning. With different consequences.

In the beginning, GOD created the heaven and the earth.

The Bible states an entirely different causation, and therefore purpose. It states God created. That an all powerful, all knowing, and all present Being caused this world on which we live to exist. That he formed it in a particular way with a particular purpose.

There is nothing random or inexplicable, because the fact of God and the act of God explain it all.

That being so, the purpose of human existence takes on an entirely different perspective. It takes on a God centered perspective, not a man centered perspective. There is a higher reason, there is an objective reason, and there is a very particular reason for each and every one of us.

Because if the world is created by a Creator, then each of us has their origin in divine design. We are not random; we are not haphazard; we are not meaningless, going nowhere.

There is a reason, and that reason lies in the fact and the design of God. It is no longer about just me and my wants; it is now about a constructive, purposeful God who not only planned our existence, but also sustains us day by day, supplying the very breath we need to live.

It is now about what God says and what God wants, because God is the Designer,  God is the Provider, and God is the Author.

God is in fact – as Jesus Christ designated him – our Father in heaven. Perfect, beyond doubt, beyond question, beyond indeed our comprehension.

And yet engaged, involved, concerned and there everyday, in every way in all that may come to pass.

God above and beyond all our selfishness and foolishness, yet there with us in our daily lives, expecting our attention, our adoration.

There to give us purpose, to give us hope; there to spare us meaningless, hopelessness, and the destructiveness that flows from pointlessness.

Random assembly of pointless atoms, or there by conscious Creative design ?

The personal icon photograph shows God's creation, the world. It reminds us that God is the Creator of all - the almighty, the all knowing and all present - the one who is most important of all. The one to whom we owe all, and the one to whom we will answer for all. The site's header image of the Bible [King James Authorised Version], a map, a light and a compass represent to us that God's word in the Bible is our spiritual map, illumination and guide through this life. Those who obey his teaching will know his presence and power - Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 23
